My baby is 11!

Not sure how it happened, but somehow my little boy grew up. It hardly seems like enough has passed that he is 11. Only two more years until he's a teenager. He's excited about that. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Thankfully, it's not now!

I am thankful when I look at how he's grown. He is a mature, young man, who loves the Lord and his family. He still loves creating with Legos and comes up with the most amazing ships (mostly spaceships!). I have to pry him off the computer at times, but then he'll sit with me for hours as we read together. I love this boy! He's also the one who is excited about homeschooling and who has taken to it like a fish in water. He likes having the extra time to play :)

So Ben, you are a wonderful son, whom we love with all our hearts. May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hands, as you grow in Him. Happy Birthday!

Today was a good day

It seems that the more we get into homeschooling routine, the more it seems to work. I know that doesn't sound surprising. But there were days last week when I thought I was never going to make it thru the school year. Days when I wondered if I'd be able to make it thru 5 minutes without Ellie breaking down into tears.

Today we managed to get thru most of what I had planned before the neighbor kids were ringing the doorbell to play. I think I am going to be very excited to have a WHOLE day to do schooling when the public schools start on monday. Oh, I can't wait! I'll actually be able to do all the subjects and be able to take time to enjoy the learning process instead of rushing thru some of it.

So here we are, into week 2 of homeschooling and I think it's going to be great.

p.s. I think I'll need to remind myself of that more than once this year!
